In the Bronx, the steep outdoor staircase where Joaquin Phoenix's Joker celebrates his descent into villainy with a limb-flailing, crotch-thrusting dance set to Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part 2" has become New York's newest tourist attraction. @vulture's Nate Jones visited the stairs, which are located off Shakespeare Avenue in Highbridge, and found them crowded with sightseers from all over the globe. In person, locals seemed amused by the sudden influx of visitors. "People were running away from this shit," a passerby named Fernando noted. "Nobody paid attention to this thing before." Akan tetapi, ada penduduk di Bronx mengatakan bahawa kawasan tersebut tidak selamat dan nasihatkan pelancong yang ke kawasan tersebut untuk lebih berhati-hati.
